As my Lynx project will share several parts with the M113 I have decided to start a parallel 1/25 scale build of a M113. I've got the basics for the top laid out, ie: driver's hatch opening and commander's cupola opening. I have searched the www. and found a couple of photos for the commnader's cupola M2 mount. Basically a V shape with a pipe fitted at the apex for the M2 carriage. The arms for the V are tapered with a change in the angle where it attaches to the cupola and a piece of L bracket as a cross support. It also appears there are adaptor plates to either side of the periscope afixed to the cupola so the mount is somewhat ahead of the actual cupola edge. Is this correct? as it is different from the Academy kit part. Also as part of this build I was hoping that I could use the M113 mount with my 1/25 Centurion. Are the mounts the same? Another question - I am thinking of making an M113 A2. From what I have read the A1 and A2 are basically the same visually on the outside. The major interior difference is the larger internal fuel tank. As I don't plan on building an engine the difference between the gas and disel engines is a moot point.
Again, any information, images and help is greatly appreciated. As I progress I'll try to get up some images.
Thanks,
Ross
