      I've never once seen the smoke grenade launchers used, nor have I heard of them being used operationally. I've only ever seen them negligently discharged!- not my me mind you.

      The last time I fired them on the range, the boxes were marked 1987, and were made in a country called West Germany. Only 5 of the 8 actually worked.

      apparently there are HE 76mm grenades- now those might be useful.
