Hmmm, spend 144 Euros on a good resin kit...or lots of hours on the Elite kit I have...I'll have to put some serious though into this, that new one looks pretty good. Thanks for the news Jason and Harold.
The one thing I see missing to make this a Canadian Taurus ARV is the hydraulic stabilizer leg that is fitted to the right rear of the hull.
The Canadian Taurus is the Bergepanzer 2A2 version and the Perfect Scale kit is the Bergepanzer 2 version.
When the stabilizer leg was fitted this meant a few other changes....the circular base plate for the leg is mounted on the left hull side and so the back deck lifting device was moved to the rear of the upper hull superstructure.
So.....a very kit at first look.....but it will need additions to make it a Canadian Taurus.
The Elite kit is the Bergepanzer 2A2....it has the rearranged stowage on the left side due to the stabilizer base plate and it has the stabilizer leg at the right rear corner.
The Perfect Scale kit is the Bergepanzer 2....it does not have the 2A2 modifications.
At a first look from the images provided I would say the Perfect Scale kit is of a higher quality than the Elite kit. I believe the Elite kit also has an incorrect angle for the front of the superstructure.
...at first sight. I arrived at Euro Militaire on Saturday, bleary eyed after an early start, to be greeted by this beauty.
I just had to have it!
One trip to the ATM later, £115 out of pocket but....wow, the casting is awesome. I reckon it's the best piece of resin casting I've ever seen. It eclipses many plastic kits for the quality of detail.
It's gone away for a rainy day (we have a lot of them in the UK!)when I can try and do it justice.
I'll post some pics of the pieces as soon as I get a chance and then you can judge for yourselves.
We just placed an order for ARVs and a bunch of their other new items including 105mm barrels. they should be here in a couple of weeks. Will keep you posted.
Just remember.....that Perfect Scale kit is not the same version as the Canadian Taurus.....we use the Bergepanzer 2A2 with the hydraulic stabilizer leg at the right rear hull corner and revised stowage on the left hull side due to the base plate for the leg.
Hopefullly we will see a Bergepanzer 2A2 or at least a conversion update set.
It is all internal...there are two internally mounted hydraulically acting cylinders that raise and lower the blade. There are valves that regulate the internal pressure of the cylinders when there is a load on the blade.
The blade is not really designed for plowing on the ARV.....it is used as a kinda ground support or anchor when winching or using the crane.
