Saw this over at PMMS, Takom has a C2 Mexas in plastic due out in January.
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/takom.html

Really glad I haven't ordered any of the resin conversions, as Takom seems to be reasonably priced and quite accurate. Hopefully its around 50 like some of their other kits.

Features
-Movable road wheels and suspension
-Cement free workable track
-1/35 Afghani figure included
-4 types of markings
-PE and clear parts

I can't wait to see sprue shots.

There's never a paperbag around when you need one!

December 18 2013, 5:24 PM

Okay,... head between legs,...breath calmly,....

Now that I've recovered somewhat, it's time to sit quietly a while and contemplate the beauty of life.

Hmmmm,... I wonder if it'll be engineered in a way to make a non-Mexas Leopard C2 a straight-forward conversion? Regardless, this is glorious news! My Takom St. Chamond just arrived and it's an excellent kit. What the heck is Orochi tracks?

Thrilled and Stunned,
Roy

Orochi

December 18 2013, 5:33 PM

Orochi are a subsidiary of Takom who have just announced some Japanese Type 10 tracks and Leopard 1 tracks!

Just found this:http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=15867&mode=thread&order=0

I suppose we should have seen this coming. Let's hope it is better than the Meng kit.

Thanks Michael.

I get the impression you didn't know about this kit. The tracks do look naff and I hope this doesn't bode ill for the whole kit. I wonder if the lower hull and running gear the tracks are on in the review are from this new kit?

Cheers,
Roy

Kit

December 18 2013, 9:04 PM

The kit looks like the MENG Leo 1A3/A4 hull based on the road wheels.

tracks

December 19 2013, 2:06 AM

The tracks are fitted to a Meng kit on the Armorama page, but that doesn't mean the Takom kit is Meng-based. I certainly hope not!!!!

At the moment we have Meng with a none too accurate Leopard and now Orochi with none too accurate tracks. What is the matter with these people?

Orochi tracks

December 19 2013, 11:31 AM

No - I didn't have a clue about this.

You will be glad to know that Orochi have listened to the concerns about their Leo 1 tracks which they say they are re-engineering!

What.....(edited)

December 19 2013, 1:34 PM

Can you tell us about the cat hiding in the box.

*****EDIT*****

Already avaliable for pre-order on hobby easy, with a 50.98$ CDN price tag plus shipping. So about 70 all told. Not bad considering most LHS in Canada won't have it for at least 6-10 months and it'll probably be about 70-80$ anyways.

Orochi tracks

December 20 2013, 9:33 AM

I actually mailed Orochi yesterday about the problem with their tracks and was very glad to hear straight back from them that they are prepared to fix the tracks before releasing them.

Hmmmm, seems these folk are willing to listen to the experts.

December 20 2013, 1:02 PM

If Takom/Orochi bought Anthony's DVDs and are now willing to hear Michael out about the issue(s) with the tracks, maybe they'd be willing to send either or both of you a test-shot of the main kit so that any other problems could be vetted. I'd sure rather have you guys go over a prototype, even if it means a longer wait for the production kit. Course, this assumes Michael or Anthony, (or Jason or Jim for instance) would be willing to look over a test-shot... happy.gif

Would be nice

December 20 2013, 1:12 PM

Hi Roy
Yes, it would be nice if one of us could do just that otherwise we might have another kit like Meng's with numerous (avoidable) problems.

I've got a horrible feeling that the TAKOM kit is based on the Meng kit, so if one or both manufacturers haven't taken notice of my review of the Meng kit, then we have problems.

After serving almost 8 months on a C2 MEXAS in the desert, would be nice to get a first crack at it.

Great news if the Takom c2 is going to blow our minds.Im optimistic and am thinking it could bode well for the future and have contacted Takom and told them of a wishlist myself and others might like to see produced.
We all wait with baited breath from Richard

Maybe we should organize ourselves and send Takom...

December 22 2013, 4:54 PM

... a set of Anthony's Leopard C1, C1 Mexas and C2 DVDs, with a little note underlining the C1 Mexas material! Afterall, they'll have the hull essentially reading to go with the Leopard C2 Mexas release. Maybe it wouldn't take much to interest them in doing up the turret of this cool looking beastie in it's KFOR livery. I'm also looking forward to seeing if their new kit has the MEXAS armour separate from the hull and turret, making a non-up-armoured Leopard C2 a potential subject.

Cheers,
Roy
