Kit list for modern Canadian armourJanuary 17 2017 at 4:35 PM | Gordon Parker (Login MeanOldMan) from IP address 70.69.145.66 |
| Assume that I am an utter novice and I want to start building a collection of kits to build modern Canadian armour from the last 20 ish years of service.
I have the Trumpeter LAV, Bison, Cougar and Grizzly and not much else.
I am looking for info on M113's, 109, Leopard (I think I will stick to the latest version for now and anything else you guys can think of.
Any and all help is much appreciated.

for the M109 go with the AFV Club M109A2/3. it's a really good kit. you'll need to get the Fruil German M109 tracks. and if you are really ambitious get the Blackdog Interior. |

I also have come back to the hobby,
My early days were Tamiya, Italeri, Academy Kits...not much else back then...
My first kit back was the Trumpeter Cougar AVGP 2nd edition....
Quality is leaps above others, kits content is superior to many...
The one change in these kits is the detail and complexity compared to the past...suspension, turrets... storage and Photoetched parts...
I have the Husky AVGP, Lav III Kodiak, LAV III TUA , ASLAV-PC and Stryker ICV from Trumpeter in the stash...
Working on a Revell Leopard 2A6M Kit and the quality is not as good...
Take your time, study the instructions... and don't loose your cool...the results will be awesome
Have Fun
Marc

Hi Marc,
I agree with you kits have gotten more complex in the last few years.
BTW the LAV III was never called Kodiak.

At one time is was referred to as the Kodiak...even by DND... I believe it was the project name early on...
"The LAV III, originally named the Kodiak by the Canadian Army, is the third generation of the Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) family of Infantry fighting vehicle built by General Dynamics Land Systems first entering service in 1999.[1[2]]
