DSLR's...it is very interesting to compare the micro mechanics of old school high end camera bodies and high-mech watches; there was a time when both were exalted for their advanced MECHANICAL technology and both were/are nearly wiped out by micro-electronics.
Alas, I don't think film/mechanical bodies will survive, unlike high-mech timepieces.
I PRAY optics don't follow the same route; I know many feel plastic lenses, complex elements that aren't ground, produce photos that are good as optical elements done "the old fashioned way."
As someone who still respects, even reveres, the grand old names (and the products their reputations were based on) I do believe there is still a difference.
