May I suggest that you might have chosen many, many other ways to respond. "I prefer a more precise finish" would have been fine. "Your technique appears to need some refinement" would have been ok. We could continue ad nauseum here.
But you chose a very different, very coarse, and obviously insulting manner.
That someone who has experience, and who knows the difficulty involved in creating very fine very precise components, would call your attention to your own faux pas is a testament to this site. You should only be amazed that you got off so lightly.
I am fairly certain that Roger Smith got to where he is by practicing his craft. And by listening to informed, constructive criticism. (Not by waiting around to be anointed a master.)
