Erin wins it 5-1 on two goals from Nick Pereira, two from Josh Sguigna and a single from Rob Mair. Two nothing after the first (Shamrocks outshot the Devils 21-1 in that period), 3-1 after two. Final shots on the night were 52-21. Byford gets the win, Elliot the loss.
For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of the off-site game, Hillsburgh is a little smaller than Schomberg so it is quite a "bang and crash" night each year. I can't remember Erin losing there in the ten years that they have played the annual "Hillsburgh Classic". Biggest crowd of the year so far with a booster upstairs (courtesy of the Hillsburgh Canadiens Oldtimers) and spaghetti afterwards for the players of both teams, courtesy of John and Jane Cunningham. John manages the rink in Hillsburgh and his son plays for the Devils.
Thanks to all who made it a special night. |
