The steel case is from a PorterCable Sawsall..got it used for $8.00 , the inside is 3 layers of 1"foam glued together(spray adhesive) coated with red felt(same adhesive)Both available at your local fabric store. The whole thing cost about $25 and took 2 hours to put together(not including painting).
I also made a similar case for the aluminum 2250, which breaks down into 2 pieces(seam is just behind forearm).
