Breeder Standards

<<Recently, there has been some discussion about setting up a national wd breed registry and
breed
standard circulating around the net. Thinking about it, something has occurred to me.

There are already 4 national registries and each has a "breed standard". Some are more detailed
and stringent than others but all 4 do have standards. I'm not sure we really need another registry
and "breed standard".

All 4 also have something of a "breeder standard" too, but I don't know that these are clearly defined
as such and certainly the registries won't release the names of those breeders to the general public,
but what about setting up a *voluntary* internet list of breeders who do meet a clearly defined
"breeder standard"?>>

When I started this thread, I thought maybe we could put together a list of reputable breeders who
would be willing to field questions from "newbies" and folks who were looking for 1st or second
animal. Someone we could direct folks to who were "bouncing" off the Acme pet board or other
places on the net.

Most of the breeders I know wouldn't want to sell to the internet "looker", "Acme Pet Board
buyers", etc. but might be willing to answer questions as to what to look for in a "good" breeder and
the things that might raise a "RED" flag as to the "Bad" breeders out there.

Apparently, this idea went South in a big hurry.

Is there anyone out there who would have an idea of how to get this thing off the ground without all
the BS of folks who have Dysart and/or Mulligan and/or Hurst animals thinking if they can just get
training certificates and OFA certificates, no one will notice that they are trying to sell junk animals to
the general public and trying to call themselves "GREAT" breeders?

Really, there has got to be some common ground!!

I have heard there is another list/bb that plans to put up a source where folks can come in and tell
about the situation they experienced with their breeders, both good and bad. I hope it pans out and
I will help if I can.
