can't believe you would want to retire from the wolfdog community because of Nick asking some questions! I saw your web home page blank to see what Nick was asking you last night. Now I will not know what it all meant. I wanted to know what genetically engineered meant to your organization as well as you too without any documentation or proof of the quality that makes genetically engineered wolfdogs.
I offered suggestions for improvement that were turned down by you (documentation of temperment and trainability). There is no other way of determining temperament and proving the animals can be trained being a "companion" without documentation and testing. I would think this is part of genetically engineering and recording it for the parents and offspring. To do these things, it would be to better the wolfdog now wouldn't it?
"Discouragement" of something suspected is not a requirement or regulation. Discouragement of something does not stop bad animals from being registered and bred.
I was for OFA and health screening requirements, as well as Nick was. Since there is no requirements to prove health (genetics) by screening, how can wolfdogs be genetically engineered? Since your organization does not require documentation of health in these areas it would be to better the wolfdog wouldn't it?
There have been a lot of good ideas given this forum, but they are not taken seriously.
When you say, "the wolf dog community is a total disaster and shows no signs of getting any better,.." this is because the good ideas are too much of a hassle to document and screen for most what you call, "good" breeders to do.
What makes an intelligent and wise breeder is turning negative criticism into a positive. Make it work, be a breeder above the rest, and this will set an example for the rest of the wolfdog community to follow. Funny how people once thought man would never fly, but it took a team of brothers to set an example for the rest of the world to follow in their footsteps and even further into space exploration.
This is not to put any existing organization or breeder down, but it is time to step forward from the ordinary wolfdog organization and "good" breeder label into a great one.
