Ann,
I have recently heard from several sources that you are currently telling a story around the US "alleging" that at one time I sold an aggressive wolf dog pup to one Karen Evans of Texas, and did take the animal back but refused to refund the purchase price of the pup to Ms. Evans.
I am sorry to hear that Ms. Evans is now suffering from acute memory lapses or could it be that you are not repeating this story accurately? Just FYI, here are the facts:
At no time have I ever sold a wolf dog pup to Karen Evans!!! I first talked with Ms. Evans by phone in the early spring of 1990 when she registered her yearling male WD, Nighthawk with Iowolfers. She inquired if I would be having any litters and I told her no, I did not breed any animals in the years of 1988, 1989, and 1990. I gave her the name of Deb Hensyel of Des Moines, IA and she did buy a female pup from Deb that was born late April, 1990. In the beginning, Karen seemed to be very happy with the pup, but late in the summer, she began to call and complain about the pup's behavior. Deb worked nights time a hospital, cared for her 2 wolf dogs and several horses, and had to sleep days so sometimes she was hard to reach by phone and you had to leave a message on Deb's machine. If Karen couldn't talk immediately to Deb, she would call me instead.
On several occasions, I tried to advise Karen about the pup as did Deb. IMO, Karen was only interested in making a "house dog" out of this pup and not what may have really been the best life for the pup. Karen said she wanted to return the pup and then the next time she would call on the phone, she wanted to keep the pup. Karen relayed a story to me about the pup getting tangled up in a light cord and when her husband tried to free the pup, he was bitten. It sounded like he may have also hit the pup during the incident. I told Deb about this incident but when she questioned Karen about the matter, Karen denied the entire story. Finally, Karen did decide to return the pup but it was early October before she could be shipped to Des Moines due to the heat and the air line restrictions. The pup arrived in Des Moines and Deb picked her up and took her home. The next morning, Deb put the pup back in the carrier and drove 140 miles to my house so that I could evaluate the behavior of this pup. I spent eight hours with this puppy and IMO there was nothing wrong with her behavior. In fact, she was a very well behaved puppy and we both gave Karen credit for that. When Karen heard this report, she wanted Deb to send the pup back to her but Deb said no as she didn't want to put the pup through the stress of shipping yet again. Deb paid for the crate the animal was shipped back in and also paid the shipping charges and has the cancelled checks to prove this. She did not return the price of the animal as there was nothing wrong with the animal....just the fact that Karen did not want it!!
When I heard that you were telling these lies, I called Mace to find out just exactly what you were saying and also gave him the real facts of the situation. On a later call with Mace, he said that he had told you the real story but you informed him that the animals were co-owned by Deb and me so I was just as guilty as she was. Now hear this, Ann...... the animals were owned and Iowolfer registered to Deb and only her. I was the breeder of the sire of this litter ( Deb had bought this male pup from me in 1987) and I own an older brother to the female pup that Karen had. I have never co-owned animals with anyone except my son that lives nearby.
