Here are some thoughts..... I am very disturbed about the current situation with some of the existing sanctuaries such as two of the ASA members (Wildlife Waystation and the Asvestas Wildlife Animal Orphanage in TX)that have already had massive problems with the authorities citing improper animal care, death of animals during transport, pollution by human and animal waste, and improper animal housing. There is every indication that their sanctuary status should NOT exempt them from the regulations that they are trying to impose on others. I also have photos of Shambala and believe me, it leaves much to be desired too. Carol Asvestas & Tippi were co-authors of this SHAMbala Bill.
We need to propose a full scale investigation by the government into the REAL workings of this particular sanctuary group as it looks like they are just trying to feather their own $$$ NEST at our expense and care very little for the actual animals involved. I am including reports of their questionable activities along with my opposition to the Bill to every congressman that is involved. Many of these articles were already posted on this board some time ago, if you cannot find them let me know & I will send them to you.
