You take a rather agressive tone, it's not necessary. If I offended you in any way, I apologize.

Okay, well the internet was invented in 1968. Not to be confused with the web, which was invented in 1989, but Gibson's cyberspace and the web are not really very alike. Not sure when 3d graphics were invented but I'm pretty sure they predate Neuromancer by a long way.

Now we don't really have anything like Gibson's cyberspace, hacking and cracking are still pretty much a text-based activity and do not take place in a 3d arcade-like environment. We do have shared, networked 3d environments like networked 1st person shoot-em-ups, but I think if you a have computer that can do 3d graphics and can also do networking, the idea of putting the two together is pretty much a no-brainer.

Immersive 3d environments were discussed a long time before Gibson, for example cinematographer Morton Heilig began began designing multisensory virtual experiences in the late 1950's.

The direct neural interface is an idea which has a long history, since they are implicit in the idea of the "cyborg", which has a very long SF pedigree.

I think Gibson was a great observer and extrapolated from what he saw to postulate a plausible future out of the (already existing) social and technological trends of the present, but I'm not sure he could really be crediting with "inventing" anything in our present-day technological society. I don't seek to detract from his accomplishment, he has unquestionably been a huge inspiration to many of us, myself included.
