This article clearly paints the picture of exactly what happened. I know this for fact. President Obama has sided with the ousted Honduran President and Hugo Chavez and in essence, Castro and Norriega et al. I find Obama's behavior is this very disturbing because he obviously didn't do his homework.
The Venezualan people have been marching in their streets wishing they would have done what Honduras did. They're calling Honduras the "little country that could". All of this started because Zalaya wanted to be a dictator and have unlimited terms. His term was up in 2010. Elections were scheduled for the fall. The country is being run by the equivalent of the Speaker of the House. I know all this because Paula my DIL is from Honduras and her family is still there. I asked her how such a leftist guy got elected in the first place and she said that the country is so poor that they buy the votes. (the crooked guys) They give them a couple of bucks and they promise to vote for them. And we think we've got problems!

Apparently on another board I post on the world doesn't know the truth

Which would be fine, except our government doesn't block the internet so we can get information from anyone anywhere. China and Iran apparently do block the internet.

If you go over the events and you can look up many more links, you see why no country in the world is recognizing the new Honduras government.

Zelayas was a GW Bush meets the most ultra liberal monster ever according to some Hondurans.

Zelayas was elected and his term was to end January 2010. He was trying to create laws to keep him in power. So I understand the people's frustration with him.

What has been reported is that the military raided his home taking on his security in a shootout and arrested him in his pajamas. This on the courts had indicted him on several charges and impeached him out of office. The court appointed the new leader Micheletti.

This is still not the problem. The problem is that the military put him on a plane and exiled him to Costa Rica. The man never had a trial.

The USA will never back a regime that doesn't at least give someone a trial. Even in Iraq, we guaranteed Hussein a trial, because it is the democratic way. We cannot back a military coup like that no matter what the reasoning is.

Just to prove the point, here are several links from different places pretty much stating the same thing:

There is not one country around the world that is prepared at this time to recognize the new government.

I just wish we would stop interferring with other governments period. We get criticized way too much for it and we gain nothing. jmo
