Bad Message from LHS Athletic Dept

Why do student/athletes from the same schools athletic department play under different rules and regulations? How is it that an athlete that breaks the law and breaks the rules of an athletic dept. gets rewarded with honors and awards from coaches but an athlete that gets hurt in a game and can not participate the rest of the season is deemed not deserving of a nomination from their coach in that same athletic dept. Who is responsible for such atrocities?

You can call the ad for info or believe this, that two fb players were charged with possession and use of illegal drugs ,suspended from the fb team and then nominated for all league first team awards by members of athletic dept. same department did not nominate a soccer player after being injured in game. Said ",Athlete did not deserve it because did not play enough games". Call lhs ad for explanation. I'm quite sure he will tell you the truth!

football players were caught with possession. drug tests came back clean. most likely league honor nominations were already done before this incident occured.

You "Parents, or Adults" are rediculous. Wow a kid made a mistake of haveing someone in there car with drugs on them. last i checked he was brought in and tested right away. Did he pass? Yes he did! does he get tested every week? yes he does! Has he gotten into trouble before? last i checked he has a clean record! This student is an honor student his whole entire life. Now how is that everyone eles problem? he sat out to start off then everything turned out good in COURT, then the school let him play. its rediculous how you parents come on this web page to complain about high school students. dont you have anything better to do? maybe worry about your own kid/s,wife,husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, family, or your worthless lives. THANK YOU

Last time I checked anyone who can run for three grueling hours and not quit is an athlete in my eyes. Someone who can withstand a punishment like that and not quit, deserves their honorable league mentions. Yeah they were arrested but all tests came up negaitve, and were told by a licensed indivudal they did not need rehab. So everyone needs to drop this month old topic and disucss something new, maybe how both athletes moved on in both a varsity basketball and wrestling winter sport. These kids served their suspensions and parents need to stop complaining how their child recieved nothing because both athletes had good enough stats be honored while serving a two games suspension. Some people are just gifted atheltes and people need to realize that.

Innocent until proven guilty.

did not know that " GIFTED ATHLETES " have special rules in hs sports > must be some new lhs rule or state mandate. Your missing the point of the original comment . There is no consistency projected by the actions of the ath dept. Either no one gets nominated by the coaches if they are hurt or if they are involved in illegal acts whether they are"GIFTED ATHLETES" football players ,cheerleaders or soccer players. If that soccer player did not deserve a nomination from the coach, even though injured while playimg for his/her team ,then certainly those fb players DO NOT DESERVE to be nominated by there coach! AND that is the reason why the ath. dept is wrong and inconsistent in regulating its coaches and athletes. You can not allow such inconsistencies to exist and expect the students to get the rihgt message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

obviously your facts are incorrect. all league nominations are made after the season is complete, not during or before, No one is criticizing the athletes, only the inconsistencies of the ath. dept and the ad who adminsters that dept, In fact a fb player was nominated and he only played one game and he did receive hon mention. No one is trying to judge the athletes in fact they would be better off if the ad was consistent and there would be no controversy. And athletes would not be hurt by those inconsistencies. Maybe if the soccer player was nominated by the coach , he/she would have at least been judged by the other coaches, maybe be voted in or not ,but we will never know because the coach did not nominate but the fb coach did . Do you see the inconsistencies now?

Athletes get what the coaches nominate them for. How else would they get recognized?! Fortunately, there are alot of people out there that recognize athletes with talent. Yes, the soccer coach did not nominate the player- who absolutely deserved it. She did not quit the team and come back, curse, get caught with drugs and it was her senior year. She was injured playing in a game, early in the season, and played enough to score a few goals. When the rules are fair for everyone, there won't be the need for this topic.

I do understand the dilema of the soccer player who did not get nominated, unfortuantely she did get injured, thank GOD she is better now, but do you really think it would have been fair that she gets nominated and not another player on the team who played the whole season? I understand she probably needs the nomination because it is her senior year but again she only played 2 games this season and having been nominated previous should help her college applications. I personally would have been very upset if she was nominated and not another soccer player who played the whole season. I too have a child who was unjustly accused of something and they had to sit out events until the tests results came back negative and they were allowed to play again when the results came back negative and they were also nominated for awards.

"Unjustly accused" is totally different than caught red handed and found guilty. The soccer player was injured in game four of the season. It is a shame you would be upset but don't for one minute think she doesn't have the right to be upset. Talent is talent and the nominations, according to All League rules, are that the "best athletes" in the league are recognized not just players who played the season. There's a big difference and fortunately people who know the game can figure that out.

Get over it, why are you getting so upset over such childish issues, do you really think having your child nominated is going to help her in any way get an athletic scholarship??????? The percentage of soccer scholarships are so low that it is not worth it, you are better off trying to get an academic scholarship for your child. You of all people should know that how she performs on her club team is what counts. Coaches look at the college showcase tournaments not high school games.

I personally would not be this upset since this is life and getting upset over such things is not worth it.

This is the season to be happy, think of all the unfortunate people out there and count your blessings. PLEASE STOP THE INSANITY.

Sounds like parents of kids who were not nominated are just jealous. Grow up and be happy for the kids that worked hard and EARNED the nominations. I am sorry for the soccer player that got hurt, but then someone else had to work hard to earn the nomination. Good luck and best wishes to all those who were nominated.

It is not about the nominations. It is about being FAIR. The standards and rules should apply to all sports, not just one or two. That is what this was about.

I certainly don't need you, an anonymous name, to tell me my child should worry more about academic scholarships, over athletic. She has been offered both, so you need not concern yourself with my child, situation or posts!! Take your own advice.

Forget about LHS students who play sports for a second. We all KNOW that athletes at ALL schools are treated with kid gloves and that they have "special rules" that they go by. Let's get to the real juicy story and hear about the the Asst. Coach that someone claimed was caught with something Illegal on them. Care to elaborate?!?! What were they caught with and WHO was it?

All you old people have got nothing better to do then worry about some 17 year old kid and what he does in his life. Maybe your just a little upset that your kid didnt get any awards, sorry your kid sucks, grow some balls and deal with real issues not a 17 year old and his life. Maybe you and your fatass wife (half the wives in this damn town are over 300) should get off your ass, put down your coffee's and go jogging, worry about your own life, and for all you old men that wrote on here about my buddy, grow some balls!!
