Freedom of speech isn't so free on these message boards. We are at the mercy of the moderator, who will probably say that the Perkin's bashing is not needed and been done before. It's OK to have an opinion, as long as it isn't a negative one. It's a shame that a topic is erased before it has a chance to be commented on. People have various opinions of Perkin's, and whether they are good or bad, they deserve to be discussed on a message board. Perhaps the writer of the message describing her kid's experience could have been better, but it did not deserve to be deleted. Moderator, could you give a reason for the deletion??

honestly, this place is terrible. and for the manager to come around to the tables with a smile to talk to people about coming on to this message board to say good things about the place doesnt help. i hope the place honestly shuts down so we can get a GOOD restaurant there.

i agree completely with stewie. patty, or whatever her name is, practically begs people to go do her perkins survey online so she'll get some business. its obvious that they're going to close down in the near future. they get no businesS! everytime i drive past that parking lot its completely empty. i've seen the servers use their bare hands while reaching into the muffin case and there salad station. and all you hear from the kitchen is cussing and their loud music. in conclusion, i was disgusted by my visit at perkins. i will never eat there again. and the coffee sucks.

seriously perkins is the biggest joke of a restaurant ever. the boss favors certain ppl and puts 16 year olds in charge of those that are older than her. it is also unsanitary there .. the workers grab stuff with bare hands such as salads and baked goods. i would suggest not going there and let the business go down the drain like its been doing since its opened.

I have eaten there a few times and would like to offer my opinion.
There is nothing wrong with the food. It is appealing, tasty and good value for money. The portions are good sized, the recipe ideas are broad and well priced.
As for the staff... I have never had any server that had a bad attitude or seemed to not care about their job. They have always been polite, hard working and showed a good level of attention to detail. They are not perfect and mistakes have been made but the reaction to the mistake was always one of wanting to put things right immediately. The problems I mention are small stuff like the wrong dressing on the salad or no lemon in the soda or having to ask for something more than once when the server was busy. And each and every time, the server was apologetic and eager to rectify the error. Mostly though, I would say that they are good kids with good attitudes, very pleasant and hard working.
The woman who worked as hostess/cashier every time I have eaten there is a different matter. I do not have a complaint about her, per say, but feel that she is not friendly at all. Three times of the four times that we entered the restaurant, there was no one at the front door. The woman did not smile when she saw us, nor did she make any attempt to hurry to the front to seat us or the people behind us. She led us to a booth without word and just dropped the menus and walked away. When we went to pay, we again had to wait for her. She did not speak to us then either. We handed over the check and a credit card, she swiped it handed us back the slip to sign and handed me back the card and my copy. No asking us how things were, no thank you, no come again, nothing. On one occasion, I needed the actual food receipt in order to fill out the survey but she had thrown it away… I have no idea why she did that… but when I asked for it, she did not reprint me a clean one. Instead, she reached into the garbage and handed me a crumbled piece of paper. It turned out that she gave me the wrong one. I don't think she is nasty or mean or anything, just not welcoming and friendly. A hostess/cashier is the first and last person that a customer will see and their performance/attitude will make an impression whether good or bad.
I read here and in other threads that many people here think the place is filthy. I do not see it as filthy, but do think that little things make a huge difference. Every time I have been there, there has always been things on the floor that every employee in the restaurant walked over without picking up. A straw, an empty sugar packet, a French fry… whatever… it is amazing how many employees from servers to hostess/cashier walked right over them and did not pick them up. Besides that, the silverware was always clean, the condiments were always wiped down and the booth cracks free of crumbs.
All in all, for the type of establishment it is, it is pretty decent. There are other restaurants in town with different price points but I think the atmosphere and wait staff for the prices charged are pretty good. I definitely think that some head office training is needed. I think there is room for improvement but it is not awful.
As for the surveys… that is from head office. It is a corporate thing. However...If the manager is indeed asking people to post positive messages here, that is not only sad but futile.
Just curious… if this place does close down, and I hope it doesn’t, what kind of place to do you guys want to be there?

Well, Lyndhurst can always use another Pizza Place.

i recently read a blog about Perkins and Patty. It was quite distrubing I've worked for patty for over 6 months and i feel she is a great boss to wotk for. She's very understanding regarding our schedule so we can participate in sports cheerleading and family obligations. She's always works with us. She respects us, she treats us the way she would want to be treated and nothing less. You should come and visit Perkins it's receiving a GOLD STAR AWARD from the Bergen County Dept of Health for exceptionally clean establishment. This is something we are all very proud of. It's not fair that an unhappy former employee who was repremanded for not doing their job write so many untruths about PERKINS....Come see for yourself and enjoy a great meal!!!!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. People should stick to the facts. Going to a blog and publishing false information about anyone or their business is petty and could be considered libel.
People should focus on why their children are misbehaving or lying rather then look to blame someone else. Looking to blame someone else is an excuse not to find the real answer to the problem. Maybe it is the parents and not the owner of local establishments providing a decent job to their children. You should be happy a Perkins exists to allow your children to work and make a dollar. If you don't want them to work, then give them all the money they want. Maybe they will replace working with drinking and drugs. Lots of facts exist on what happens when teens and children drink and drug.
Perkins is a great place. The staff including the owner are always very friendly and courteous. I have never had a bad meal here. The place is always very clean. It beats the same old diners, pizza places and Chinese restaurants that seem to populate Lyndhurst and the neighboring towns.

I agree that people should not post nasty things about businesses. It only serves to hurt the business by posting horrible and incorrect information and most of those posts are done by previous employees who just have an axe to grind.
With the economy the way it is, everyone should be sticking together to help the small businesses in our community thrive and stop trashing them, no one knows when they may need job and the establishment that they have trashed are the ones they might look to in order to bring home a paycheck.
Perkins is not a bad little place, I have been there a few times and never had a problem. I think it was a nice addition to our town and atleast offers something besides chinesse and pizza.
Everyone should just go in and try it, if you don't like it fine, don't go back. No one can please everyone, it is just impossible. No matter how good or bad it was someone will always find a fault.
I also agree that people should pay more attention to what their kids are doing and how they are acting instead of spending all their time on a message board trying to trash everything and everyone.
