I know we weren't actually slaves dumbass it was a figure of speech. And the British didn't start this country, the first permanent European settlement in the continental United States was spanish from Spain. The British did the same thing that every other visitor to this country has done. Moved here spoke there native language, ate there native foods and followed there native traditions. And so did the Dutch and so did the Germans and so did the French and the Portoguese and then the Italians and the Poles and later the South and Central Americans and now Asian, Indian and Arabs are doing the exact same thing. Every single race of people has done the same thing. There were neighborhoods up until not to long ago where no one spoke anything but Italian all over NY and NJ. You know they were hated on just like everyone else. And it wasn't right then and it isn't right now. At some point an "american" looked at your mother or your grandmother and was disgusted at the new trash that just walked into their town. How does that make you feel? "Give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses longing to be free"? Those words built this country. Those words aren't just words or poetry. They are Law. They are American Law. Just because you are here now benefiting from our countries bounty doesn't mean that those words are no longer valid.
You also mentioned that if I moved to Mexico I would be forced to learn Spanish. Once again whats that go to do with anything. We are talking about Lyndhurst NJ USA. Once again not one point made. And by the way Mexican children as well as most countries in the world are forced to start learning English in thier first year of grammer school. Another thing the United States has no official language. So if your to lazy or dumb to learn more than one language than move to another country where you are forced to speak the language that the dictator or king wants you to. You still make me sad, your getting more and more pathetic as you post.

I agree with what you are saying, BUT the new settlers that are coming to town are pigs. They do not have the pride or respect that the early immigrants had. Our great grandparents and such took pride in the fact that they live in the USA, the American dream they had was to keep a job, work hard, take pride in the home and neighborhood they lived. The people that come to this country today, not the same. They are lazy, dirty, and have no respect for public property. They feel they are owed something, where our older generation felt they owed the USA. That is the difference.

Well this country needs to have an official language. One. Then we can all communicate, signs and documents don't have to be in two languages which clearly discriminates on the third, fourth and beyond most prevalent languages in the country and people will be free to go to learn a second, third....100th language as they choose. Which one language should it be?

Well that would depend on who you ask, but I think we all know the answer.

The language that has become the international language, the language of the business world, the language that students from most countries of the world have to study besides their own?
