It's hard to believe that the ticket running against the current administration didn't do much to prepare for last nights forum. The newspapers did a great job with the choice of questions, the candidates had a captive audience and a chance to show their knowledge and their vision and the challengers just did not deliver. The facts they attempted to convey were either OLD, Guida like, or totally without substance. In fact, there were only two candidates that spoke in complete sentences and actually attempted to answer the questions, the others looked and acted clueless.

I think the new people did a good job. They were all nervous and are everyday people who are not use to skirting around the subject. After all was said and done the question was still not answered WHAT ABOUT THE 42 MILLION DOLLAR DEBT, AND HOW IT IS NOT GONNA RAISE OUR TAXES. I truly hope everyone thinks twice when they enter the voting booth on May 12. If they get back in you will see a so many people having to move because they are not going to be able to afford to live here anymore.

How in the world can anyone who was in the high school last night say that the new people did a good job? They were not informed and pretty much just re-read the question and added a few filler words as their answer. Two of them could hardly make complete sentences, one was so nervous it was actually painful to watch, and the other was so argumentative and was looking for a fight. The Lyndhurst First team answered the questions and even talked about the future, the majority of the other people didnt have a plan nor really a clue on what the future would be if they (god forbid) got into office. Evelyn Pezzolla does have the experience and if she was the only one to get in it wouldn't be the end of the world, but the other 4, i would think would force alot of people to move. What about Vasquez, saying that the other towns are having furloughs, and that maybe we have got to look into that option...OH MY GOD, who would want that for any neighbor living in Lyndhurst, and the rest of them didn't even really understand what shared services meant, one even said that the two boards (commissioners and education) should keep separate money.!! that is not what they are talking about. If Lyndhurst is so wrong about shared services, then someone should reallly inform the rest of the State, because they are using Lyndhurst as a model on how to have shared services work for you!! I am proud to live in Lyndhurst and am proud of my Commissioners! I have never in all my life have seen Lyndhurst as clean and beautiful as it is today, now if that doesnt matter to you, then move to Jersey City or somewhere more Urban. The town has improved drastically in the last four years and can only get better with the present Commissions plans. I don't think that Mr. Vasquez is too proud, he called the school that his children go to "Stinking Lincoln" instead of Lincoln, how disprectful to every teacher and secretary and Principal at that school! I quess he has no pride in that school nor the town!

My only hope was that there would be more people at the forum last night so people could see the real candidates. The majority of people that were in that room clearly know who they are voting for so it really didn't matter too much. But if the towns people had seen what i saw last night, there is no doubt in my mind who they would be voting for!!!!

LYNDHURST FIRST!!!

Well i was there last night and it is to be expected that the new candidates would be nervous. They are not use to lying to the public, these guys have had a lot of practice promising jobs and no tax increases well who is going to pay for all these needless projects not the fabulous 5. I would like to see any of you people get up there and answer the questions they had too. I only see this town going backwards in the past four years. We the people have no say in what these 5 are doing, but WE WILL BE PAYING FOR IT USE YOUR HEADS PEOPLE,THE POOL,THE FIELDS, THE JEFFERSON SCHOOL ANNEX. Spending your money and mine needlessly I guess that is what makes good commissioners. Well I don't think so. A lot of people are being forced to uproot because of all the needless spending. These new candidates are for the people not the glory. So think twice on May 12th and do the right thing.

I am not sorry after I see the corruption going on. Don,t you realize the higher your taxes go up your house value decreases. I am leaving at a perfect time, you my friend keep buying the lies and you my friend will be stuck here forever. Don't forget there is a world outside this one mile square town. Where you don't have to pay outrageous fees to have your children join sports, and there are better school systems and real town pools, not a pool that everyone and anyone can come use. Good luck to you all. Where i am going the grass will be greener, because everyone has grass. Here has turned into the concrete jungle or the land of parks. I cannot wait until everyone gets their first, second and their other tax bills, then lets hear what you have to say.

I was sorry that I was not able to attend the forum. However, from what I have heard (all over town) I would have been LMAO and probably been asked to leave, anyway. HA!!! HA!!! HA!!! HA!!! HA!!!

In response to the poster who used the weak excuse of being "nervous": I'm sorry but that means nothing to us voters. People obviously attended this forum with one simple question in mind: "Why should I vote for you this time around?"

Sounds like the opponents blew it! (no matter if being "nervous" is the reason or not).

My God! Even that post is hilariously funny to me! What is this? Some sort of a clown show?? HA! HA! HA! HA!

Well I am sorry you say you missed the forum, but for someone who wasn't there you seem to know a lot. I am glad you can laugh at the concerns of people who are losing their jobs and homes in a time of recession. WE are tired of the spending and building that is going on in this town. It is so very obvious who you are for but, people are truly concerned about what is going to happen here. If you ask me the incumbents knew the questions ahead of time. Their were a few incumbents who did not have good answers to any of the questions. All everyone heard was them tooting their own horn on what they built and did for this town. What they did was tax people out of their homes and make a lot of promises to people.

Nervous wouldn't describe most of the new candidates; they looked like deer facing oncoming headlights. I'm sure when they were "recruited" to run, they had no idea what they were getting themselves into. The construction worker did not use a full sentence to answer a question and seems he may "benefit" from running the departments he wants to oversee, the former board of ed member rambled and she seems to flip flop with so many issues, the young parent only agreed with the majority and is happy to call "someone's" daughter her good friend, and the former comissioner defended herself from when she held office back in the stone age. And what's with only being able to reach her by leaving a message at her place of business; real approachable! The real estate person sounded intelligent, but I'm not sure his facts were accurage. He may be the only one that may garner a few votes, but not a huge threat. Just my observation.

Everyone seems to have their opinions of these new people , but they seem to have more realistic views on our taxes and what this town really needs. I think they should have a forum where the people ask the questions and not where they are rehearsed. If you are not in office and are being lied to some of those questions would be hard to answer. THE MAIN QUESTION ABOUT THE 42MILLION IS STILL NOT ANSWERED OR THE POOL OR ALL THE BUILDING THEY DID. WHERE ARE THEY GOING TO GET THE MONEY TO PAY BACK ALL THESE BONDS? THAT'S RIGHT YOUR POCKET.

I am 100% sure that no one knew the questions ahead of time. The reason that it seemed the incumbents knew the questions is because they are educated on the issues and know what is going on in town. The "other" people had no clue and pretty much had to read the questions over more than once and twice. And a deer caught in the headlights would be a compliment to them, they looked like they needed a puke bucket next to them. I wonder how many of them, at one point said to themselves, what the heck have I gotten myself into?, I am way over my head!

I think the incumbents did know the questions ahead of time. After all four years ago these incumbents did not do such a great job at the forum, and they were the only ones there. They know what to say because they created this mess. BUT did they really answer the questions? I heard a lot about 35 children being brought back to the district, the bushes they put in by the high school, the locker room, but not enough about the debt or all the spending they are doing and how this debt will be paid back. We need change not a pool,or a 50 million dollar middle school (even though the people said NO). So anyone who buys their lies are gonna need a puke bucket.

To lynddirt: I was not laughing at people's concerns by no means. I was (and, in fact, I still am) laughing over the manner in which I heard that most of the opponents presented themselves. And, of course, it's obvious who I am voting for. What kind of response is THAT which you have given to me? Saying it's obvious who I am voting for?? No s---, Sherlock.

If the new people were so "nervous" in their presentation then it stands to reason that they might be "nervous" serving in the capacity of "Commissioner". And if that one candidate came across as arrogantly as I heard that he did then my fear is that this is the manner in which he may handle an office such as the one that he is running for.

The opportunity for the new people to showcase themselves is now over. And, as I said earlier, it appears to me that they blew it. It's that simple. S---happens, get over it.

(And stop trying to say that the other five were prepared as a defense. Now you just look real silly!)

P.S. The expression of "deer caught in the headlights" cracked me up! HA!! HA!! HA!! HA!! HA!! HA!!

You always seem to show your arrogance. Everyone has the right to vote for who they want. All I am saying is the incumbents did know the questions because the one commissioner who always reads from notes at town meetings did not have to do so at the forum. The questions were not answered by either party. The incumbents who skirted around the subject and the new people who did a good job (not being rehearsed). They answered the questions as best as they could, and I give them a lot of credit for the job they did.

The Commissioners in now started knowing nothing and they don't either , but they have the next 4 years to make it . So its time to grow up Bandolino , they had there chance now its theirs.

Absolutely NO notes were permitted and this is the reason why you didn't see any being used. (All that you have to do is check with both of the local newspapers to learn how this sort of forum is conducted in other towns, as well).

Absolutely NO questions are known in advance.

You need to give it up. I heard that the newcomers stunk. End of story.

No one said they were allowed notes. You feel your way and other people have their views. Maybe you should talk to the families in town and see how they feel about all these pet projects, and the tax increases they are facing. Trust me they are not that happy, especially when they vote NO to a pool or middle school and we get one anyway. It is saying that their vote just does not matter, and then it is pasted off as shared services ,which is not saving anyone money only costing us more.

Okay, first of all someone needs to learn how to spell the fourth grade word: "Candidate". It's not "Canidate" even though I suspect that is the way that you incorrectly are pronouncing it. HA!! HA!! HA!!

Secondly, someone came in here and made a false accusation about the incumbents knowing the questions in advance. They made this brilliant deduction by noticing that one of our commissioners was not using notes when, at other times, he uses them.

When I explained that absolutley NO notes were permitted...and THAT was the reason for not seeing any notes being used...the response that I got was: "No one ever said that no notes were allowed".

Now, I ask you this...if you cannot spell fourth grade words and you cannot respond to a simple message board post...then why in God's name would anyone listen to what your take is during this election? You sound so absurd it's mind boggling. And it's laughable, too! HA!! HA!! HA!!

The topic in this thread is simply "THE CANDIDATES FORUM". With regard to that, once again, the newcomers were patheticically embarrasing to themselves. Can't you just suck it up and call it a day without coming in here past midnite saying how well you can sleep?? HA!! HA!! HA!! HA!! HA!!

lyndmom, what in holy hell are you talking about?? I am aware that people are all entitled to their opinions. The problem seems to be that you are not able to intelligently hear mine. I am not laughing at issues that I do not agree with. I have been laughing at a handful of people who are trying so hard to come across as people that they clearly are not. From my viewpoint they are making fools out of themselves. I wouldn't even laugh at that alone...the incorrectly spelled words, the incorrectly pronounced words, the false accusations and implications, the stuttering and stammering and even the bizarre responses to message board posts! I heard that one of the opponents announced that he could be reached three hundred & sixty-six days out of the year, twenty-five hours a day! Come on, do you expect people NOT to laugh at that? You almost HAVE to laugh when they now step forward and try to convince us of another's incompetence while behaving in this absurd manner. It doesn't work that way.

As for sticking to the issues addressed, I believe that I have been. The title of this thread is "THE CANDIDATES FORUM". And I state, once again, that the newcomers blew their chance big time! They were pitiful and made asses out of themselves, in my opinion.

And this, lyndmom, is MY opinion...the one that you are saying that I am entitled to.
