Does anyone in this town care about what he/she shoves in his/her pie hole? Look around. Most of our residents are overweight. At little league and hockey games I watch young children shovel french fries covered with "cheese" (not sure what that yellow crap is actually) in their mouths or fried chicken and I'm repulsed. I also see high school girls coming out of Dunkin Donuts with extra-large containers of fat-laden creamy coffee drinks and donuts, their muffin tops hanging over the tops of their jeans which appear to be bursting at the seams. How can a parent allow his/her children to eat such crap?? Don't these high schoolers learn anything at all about nutrition and how processed foods affect their bodies?? And how can we, as residents of this town, frequent joints like "Smitty's" and "Bubba's"?? How can we even allow such establishments to open in our township?? The restaurants in this town--Wendy's, Burger King, Smitty's, Bubba's, Colonial Diner and all the many pizza joints--along with the crap that is served at town functions and in our public schools as "lunch" are a sad commentary on the health and welfare of our residents. WAKE UP Lyndhurst!!! Walking through the county park once a week will not correct the damage done to one's body by a meat-based, dairy filled diet. And having a salad with dinner is not going to save one from heart disease, diabetes, and a myriad of cancers.

Well you see, in America we have freedom of choice. (Although who knows for how much longer)
Should we have to legislate intelligent thought processes? I take it from your post that you eat a healthy diet at all times, How is it you are able to escape the Evil Lyndhurst food establishments when there is no law prohibiting them?
Yes it is sad what young and old people put into their bodies, but should the government force or enforce what we can or cannot ingest? Is a parent supposed to follow their teenage children around and stop them from eating poorly?
Government and Parents (at least once the children are over a certain age) cannot control what people and their children eat, and THEY SHOULD NOT.
Someday, if and when the Government controls health care, then they will also control what you can eat, cutting you off of quality health care if you abuse your body....and they will tell us where to go, what types of Restaurants can be opened, what we can watch and listen to on TV and Radio. How far we can travel so as to save energy, you will be recorded in all transactions, thereby eliminating the possibility you might eat or say or do the wrong thing.
If all this sounds good to you, then I feel sorry for you. Almost all government programs do not do what they were designed to do, or cost many times what they should, and can almost always be done better by private or free enterprise.
In NYC every menu has calorie counts for all items...you can therefore see the amount of calories you will be eating and either CHOOSE to eat it or not.
I for one do not want to see the Government involved in any more personal choices. They control far too many things already, and If I choose to eat poorly it is a personal decision, for which I take personal responsibility, a practice that should be followed by all... Personal Responsibility ... that means not suing if you spill hot coffee on yourself, or if you can't stop eating French Fries and burgers because you are addicted to fast food.
If people rejected fatty items, the restaurants would change their choices, they are in business to make a profit, driven by customers. people stop buying some items, they are replaced on the menu.
While your observations are astute, we do not need legislation to protect us from ourselves. I ask you what should the penalty be for eating illegal fatty foods? or serving them? What fine would be fitting? And where should that money go? Into the pockets of Government Profiteers?

The only astute observation on your part is that yes, I eat healthy.
I did not state, nor imply, anything about government legislating nutrition or healthcare.
Go start your own thread...and have another hot dog while you're at it.
BTW, you are mistaken about ALL NYC menus listing calorie counts. Only restaurants with 15 stores nationwide are subject to the NYC law that went into effect about a year ago, and not ALL of the restaurant chains subject to it are 1) in compliance &/or 2) providing accurate counts.

I am sad to admit that your comments are true. Most (there are few exceptions) of the female gender do not take care of themselves. They are overweight and unkept. The LYNDHURST uniform is either sweat pants or those awful stretchies. Ladies please if your overweight do not wear stretchies they show off your cottage cheese thighs and ass. FYI there is a Weight Watchers located in N.A.

I guess you think that all men in Lyndhurst are perfect. I will not say that I am in perfect shape, but please do not lead people to believe that it is only women who are overweight. Some of the men in this town need to stop and look in the mirror before they exit their homes too.

You can be a little cubby but take pride in the way you look (Example) the way you dress, makeup, hair etc. and you don't have to spend $$$$$$$$ there's always TJ Max for fashions at a fraction of original cost. Then you wonder way husbands stray.
As for the Lyndhurst Man....that's another issue....YUCK !

My son eats at sports things all the time and he is no where near fat. Its nice that you have the time to make healthy meals but some families are busy trying to work in order to afford living here, helping their kids with school and driving the kids to sports. I dont think its the end of the world for kids to eat at sports functions. Instead of complaining about the food in the snack stands, why dont you volunteer to work them and make some suggestions on food to be served. Why not be a part of the solution instead of just complaining about it.

From reading this message, I get the impression that you were severly deprived as a child and never experienced the pleasure of indulging in food that was not necessarily good for you, either that or you suffer from bulimia or anorexia and you have indulged in what you are critizing these so-called "fat kids" for! Or maybe you are just neurotic and live on beansprouts and tofu, either case, get a life and eat some fries already!
