Its about time the investigations begin . Right away Comm. DiMaggio is blaming the prior administration for En-Cap . The pre-K building , the ball fields were negotiated by Ex Mayor Guida , they had a beautiful model of what they negotiated in the front hall of the Parks Dept for everybody to see , But when the new Commissioners got in it disappeared and they took all the credit .When ever something is wrong they blame the prior administration . We weren't in debt for 50 million back then either . Maybe the investigation can tell us where the money came from to build a fountain in the park where the Commissioners tell you what you can do and when you could do it or DiMaggio calls the cops on you . Maybe they could tell us why the school budget was voted down they passed it anyway , they took away our right to vote , they built a pool for school competitions but its to short , ride down a street at night and you dont know if its Christmas or a UFO . I could go on but I think everyone gets the picture . Remember this is LYNDHURST not DiLASCIOVILLE

Well it was Guida that began all this endcap crap. And made the worst deal possible.

Imagine if this had not fallen apart when it did. Lyndhurst would have borrowed against money that it cold never get back....

What I want to know is how Paul Sarlo is going to skate clean away from his involvement in the Endcap mess. He was one of the biggest champions for the cause when Guida was selling out the towns taxpayers. Now the only thing we know about Sarlo is that he has perfect 20/20 hindsight.

You have got to be kidding me. The current administration has done things for the town, not because of, but in spite of the deal that was negotiated by the previous administration, that essentially gave away too much.

You really seem like a bitter, unhappy, gotta find fault with everything-type person.

Does it really matter anymore ?

Drive around your town and see what its turned into.
Ridge road looks like Passaic and houses are selling for 200 k....

One thing I know is that once a town begins a downward spiral like this, it will never return to the nice quaint town that it once was.

90% of the people moving into Lyndhurst are from the inner city and they are bringing that inner city lifestyle along with them. Lyndhurst has turned into a low income, low class place to live and I'm ashamed to tell people where I'm from.

If you hate it here than get out of here!!!! All you do is cry how bad it is today in Lyndhurst!!! wa wa wa, grow up already and move away, There is a realestate company on Washington ave in hoboken that is selling all the homes in Lyndhurst. People who hate living in hudson county move here to try to enjoy what Lyndhurst has. This town needs people like us so we can inject some street smarts in its sports!!!

Street Smarts on the playing field? That doesn't even make any sense and for whatever you may be trying to say, it obviously doesn't equate to Wins on the field. Aside from the baseball teams recent success (and we all know who makes up that roster) the rest of the sports programs are .500 programs at best.... competing against sub-par southern Bergen Schoools.

TRUE student athletes with any talent will find their way into the Bergen Catholics or St. Joe's where they can excel both academically and in the Sports programs.

The fact that you think "Street Smarts" adds value to a community is kind of scary and shows your Hudson County mentality.

Any parent who looks at a High School sports teams W-L records instead of the schools combined SAT scores is just an idiot. The facts are that the Lyndhurst schools scores were not good to begin with and over the past few years, have been declining rapidly.

I'm sure this means nothing to you because now you play on a field with grass instead of dirt, but please do tell me what that translates to 20 years from now when you're standing in the unemployment line with your HS Diploma or GED?

The previous poster was correct in stating the decline of Lyndhurst and how it's been hit very hard by this economic down turn; evidenced simply by the fact that you can now buy a home here for such a small price.

Yes, it's definately turning into a mini city and most old timers don't like what they see. Some of them use the message board to voice their displeasure, the smart one's have already gone on to better places.

So although I do understand this is a better place for YOU, you also need to understand that we made the same decision to come here some 30 - 40 years ago because we didn't want to live in the city and wanted our children to have a better education and safe environment.

For some reason the "New generation" wants to come to Lyndhurst because they think its a better place, the only difference being you want to bring your city mentality and attitude with you. Yes, there are great facilities here, but if the people are trash, then you're right back where you started.

" Enjoy what Lyndhurst has" is the key phrase here.

You bring absolutely nothing to the community, contribute nothing, and will soon turn Lyndhurst into the same cesspool that you came from.

Everything we've worked hard to build over the years is now all yours to enjoy because Mr. Obama gave you your down payment.

The last two posts were great, especially the street smarts part. What exactly does that mean, that you say "yo,yo,yo" while you play a sport?

You and the rest of the dead heads in this town are the reason why street smarts are needed.
Your politics is a good old boys club
Your sports are a good old boys club
Your town jobs are picked by the good old boys club
And you taxes keep getting raised by the good old boys club
Plus your kids are so spoiled that they can't even find any fight in them to become a contender in any sports.
Now in comes some of this Hudson county blood to help inject some fight back into this one way street town.
Just like many years ago when Hudson county families moved into Lyndhurst and Injected talent into the sports, History will repeat itself.
As far as the Education part, Get real about whats important between sports and the books!!! Don Bosco St Joes and Bergen Catholic get the recruitment because of there top notch sports programs, Who get most of there talent from the streets, AND NOT THE STREETS OF LYNDHURST!!!D-1 Colleges recruit out of these schools not because of the frogs that are cut up in Bio class, but because of the Talent it has on its fields and courts!!! Every one who is part of this school reaps the benefits because of it. So Go and continue to think your way is right and send your kids to Lyndhurst High, They will get a good education and hopefully go to Kean College or Montclair State, But the Kids who Graduated from Those powerhouse sport high schools will graduated from USC ,PENN STATE, NOTRA DAME AND a slew of D-1 colleges. Oh did I say those kids are recruited from the streets and play with the heart of a lion. Maybe thats the issue ,were just golden bears, maybe we need to be Grizzly bears instead.

this whole thing is ridiculous. Who cares about football, or other sports. What about education. That is what really matters. The mentallity of this town is ridiculous. If these sports stars left this 1 mile area they would see they are not or do not measure up to other sports players in the area. The sports program is not what makes your child excell, it is their grades. You should have your children play sports to keep them off the steets and learn to be a team player. Name me anyone in the past 15 years who went anywhere, except Don Pritzlaff. Once these kids leave the school they end up quitting or getting cut. COME ON PEOPLE GROW UP.

Tell me what students came out of Bosco or BC who made it anywhere. And maybe the school budget was voted down because the people thought it was to low. You want to compete with these schools but you dont want to help fund Lyndhurst.

No-one said athletes come from any of these schools. All I am saying is people should concentrate on education and what our schools are ranked. Not on sports and feeling that their CHILD FROM ANY SCHOOL IS GOING TO GET A FREE RIDE FOR SPORTS. An academic scholarship is much more rewarding. But parents whose children play sports are just fustrated athletes. I still stand by what I am saying education is the key and sports should fill in their spare time to keep them out of trouble. Most towns and schools spend more on their athletic programs then on books and our childrens education.

Taxes?

Encap?

Sports?

Nothing makes me laugh more.....the average person does not understand the level of corruption and ineptitude involved in New Jersey Development. The Encap project doomed before it was approved. Anyone, ANYONE, that thought Lyndhurst was going to benefit from Encap was just plain ignorant. Guida and those around him, borrowed future revenues to keep taxes low...and planned on borrowing massive amounts from Encap futures...

It does not even make sense to explain any of this to the average resident, because they hear low taxes and believe anything, the state and local government wants it that way. They lie, you give them votes.

Now the entire economy fell in the dumper, and the taxpayers are being squeezed to pay for the recovery, while spending is pretty much left unchecked. From the top (Corzine) on down, the first question always asked is Where can we get more money, when it should be how can we cut wasteful spending.

It will never change... Lyndhurst taxes will stop going up, when they equalize with surrounding townships.
Re-Elect Paul Sarlo, the guy that had the original Encap vision...

Funny....

Hey Hoboken - Let me get this strait.

You move to Lyndhurst because you don't waant to be around your own kind, then you make fun of the people here and tell us your "street smarts" way of life is going to make this town better.

Isn't that why you left Hudson County?

Do us all a favor, Pull your pants up so we don't have to see your underwear hanging out, put your baseball cap on strait and worry about becoming more educated on how normal people live.

Our only fears right now are that people like you now live amongst our children.

That really was not a nice thing to say. Everyone can have an opinion. That is why the town is going in the diection it is, because of the statement you made "who cares anyway." Everyone should care about their town.
