Parental units are often concerned that their children are not going to be able to support themselves. This isn't naivete or ignorance on their part. It's realism and practicality. Now I realize that reality and practicality are anathema to the artistic spirit. But the parents are right to be concerned. I doubt that it's so much "do you mean you'll have a graduate degree and there probably won't be a job waiting when you get out?" so much as "how on earth are you going to pay back all this money without a good paying job when you finish?" It's a legitimate concern and one that should be addressed and discussed rather than brushed aside.
