When I talked to financial aid as an incoming grad student at my very prestigious grad school, I was told that as a soprano I should just be happy I got in - sopranos don't get money.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad I went to grad school, as I was still definitely NOT a finished product coming out of undergrad. But I wasn't advised to look around more at other schools at the time, and I only shot for the highest and best. I'm currently paying off my Perkins loans and private loans, and am in economic deferment for my Stafford Loans. It's tough but doable.
