I had one too many zeroes in my interest "calculation". Sorry about that; 21000 makes a lot more sense than 210000.
You can tell I'm a convert. I was in debt most of my life and now that I'm free of it I'm stunned at how much better my life is. I also remember that borrowing seemed like the logical, normal, adult way to run my life, and that I used my mortgage as a way to keep my life on track through some very difficult times when getting out of bed seemed like too much effort. We all do what seems best at the time.
So I think the best thing I can do at this time is practise some arithmetic.
