Essentially a three person opera. Very psychological. Sex, violence, and mind games. Features a rather unhealthy ménage à trois, 2/3 of which is incestuous. Heroine: a spinto soprano or perhaps a mezzo. Younger protagonist, a tenor or perhaps a high baritone. Older protagonist, a bass. Always thought Sondheim should do a musical of this - but an opera would work too.
