Who liked, who disliked, who went, who refused...

Personally, I liked. A lot. But I was most disappointed with the triumphal march... And the chorus work in that scene... Most of the time I could not get a sense of the separate groups (and I know the opera well)

Oh, and the sound balance was frequently lousy. Who forgot to turn the mic on, on one side???

I saw it live, not in the theatre, but I agree with this completely! Also, wtf! No elephant??? It's the MET! The house with its own entrance for animals and a roster of animal keepers on staff! If the Met can't rustle up an elephant for Aida*, then who can?? I was disappointed. But not with the singing. The chorus sounded amazing, Urmana was incredible, Zajick was incredible, despite her omnipresent bouncing throughout, and I didn't even hate Botha. It was weird to have them standing throughout the final scene, though. I wanted to remind them that they were going to be there for a little while yet and to go ahead and have a seat!
