it was a fortunate day when my computer came with a digital camera,
but i am famous for not "seeing" anything through the lil hole except my subject. almost all my pics of my kids over the years (and i had to pay for developing then),
almost all are taken on unmade beds.
when i had to take pictures of my quilts, before sending them away, i made a huge effort to get the gorgeous children into the pics. waited until late afternoon when the low light was golden yellow. got it all outside for beautiful background. learned to center and stand close enough and stuff.
the best film photographers took rolls and rolls of pictures, and when you do that, you just have to get some great shots. now that developing is free, and editing is easy, you can click away, stepping to the side, standing up higher, orbiting your subject and light source, trying things.
i could get somewhere with genealogy when my concentration was better. i made a huge 4' by 5' gen chart on a soft watercolor background, family names of parents only, that went back to the 1600's. it hung by the family dining table, and those names are as familiar to us all as our own. one day i know we will see them all face to face.
i cant use the internet as much as i wanted, they cost so much, but once in awhile i get a gift: sunday i found a pic of my dad at his workplace in the late 40's, before i was born! i am stoked.
