Another theory...

The gagging may have caused the dreams. Do you have sleep apnea? That's another possibility. You might have apnea in addition to narcolepsy. Or maybe even asthma, have you considered that? Maybe gasping for air can cause gagging. The reason I say this is: Several years ago, I had a temporary bout with asthma brought on by coughing from severely inflamatory bronchitis. I had no secretions whatsoever. When they ran the light down my throat(I forget what that procedure is called.),they found no congestion or secretions of any kind. All they found was severe inflamation. It made me cough constantly. This would cause an asthma attack sometimes. It always gagged me. And a few times it actually made me throw up! And if I ever get sick or anything in my sleep, it always makes me dream weird stuff.
