theory on the radio

The John Tess show said that your body produces melatonin at night after you go to sleep at your body cools down. I also understand that some/most N bodies heat up at night. So if I am on the right thought track, that would mean N bodies are cooler during the day therefore making most of their melatonin during the day. Melatonin helps you sleep, so does that contribute to our sleepiness during the day?
