I understand why you would say that it may not be lack of muscle control. I think the breaker box description is a really good one.
Sometimes its a really intense jerk, I will suddenly get the falling feeling that you get when you are trying to sleep and jerk awake. Maybe it's because I'm actually asleep and I didnt know it. I get that feeling about once a day and sometimes it will make me drop things or cough.
Or sometimes the feeling is just brief paralyzation like when I am laughing and trying to run up the stairs at the same time, suddenly I just cant move and I have to stop.
I think Cataplexy is very mysterious and it can be described in many ways. Maybe it does have something to do with loss of muscle control but maybe its also sudden tension in muscles or an intense muscle spasm. We may never really know.
