N and ADHD Med interaction

Steven,
Sorry this response is so delayed. I haven't been on the board in a long time.
Regarding your question about the meds interacting, my thought on that is probably not! Except for Stratera, the meds used for ADHD are stimulants. My son (who has ADHD) takes Adderall XR. The same medication I take for my N.
The meds used to treat our eds, are stimulants, most originated as medications for ADHD. For example, Adderall, Adderall XR, Ritalin, etc.
However, I would not recommend Xyrem for someone with ADHD.
Technically, in theory, if you are taking a stimulant for you N, then you are already being treated for ADHD at the same time. I am a firm believer that the sleep deprivation symptoms we live with cause us to have ADHD-like symptoms. I go off the chart on the ADHD tests too. Unfortunately, the stimulants don't help me with focus.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts. Hope it helps
Mindy
