re: our soldiers

by (no login)

We had a potluck today in our clubhouse at the rv park, with just a handful of us left in this ghost town. Many of the retirees here have served in the military. I started a wall in the club house posting pictures of those in our park who have served in the military, their children and grand children. My husband is a Vietnam vet who served in the army in 1966-1967. I am so grateful he returned from that war, although he still suffers from agent orange. My father was US Army and served in the signal corp, landed on the same beach two weeks after D-day, fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He also survived. I have many nephews and great nephews now serving, some are on their third tour in Iraq and Afganistan. I pray for them everyday, some are just new parents. I am so glad that things have changed in our attitudes towards our soldiers fighting on foreign soil, they don't have to come home to being spat on and called baby killers as those who served in Vietnam. I know my husband still has problems with that to this day, the Vietnam vets really paid a huge price.
