I assume that is what she mean't, since I have allergies, apnea, arthritis, that I have alot of inflammation going on. She repeated SODIUM three times before saying Oxibate, and said I would not be a candidate. She said she is not all that crazy about the drug and prefers provigil along with ritalin, for (older) narcoleptics. I guess at sixty I'm in that Older Catagory. She did say it contained excess amounts of sodium and tastes salty also. I still haven't reached the dose she recommended for provigil, but I'm gradually working on it. The ritalin, brings back bad memories and side effects, but it's getting better. The ritalin always gives me bad stomach cramps. She said to take it on an empty stomach then eat a half hour later. I've tried that and eating first, which makes it less effective, but I still get periodic stomach cramps. As for the cataplexy, not much help there. In the fall I'll have to talk to her about that, she said the provigil, should help some with cataplexy, I've never heard that, but it doesn't seem to help with that at all.
