more about everything else later: find out what the doctor's requirements are in your state and county. if they are required by law to report you to the department of motor vehicles or something.
you would have to find another doc, who would be willing to treat symptoms of EDS with stimulants etc, but not search out the dx. if you have N and C with very difficult symptoms, the day will come when you must get diagnosed to be treated effectively.
if you are young, you have both paths to consider: early effective treatment could give you better success in school and career, family, relationships. staying below the radar could keep you driving longer, but do NOT wait until you have a catastrophic accident.
that really starts you from zero, and God forbid anyone should be hurt, get you in legal trouble, or attach every penny you will ever make.
If your sleep studies show the classic patterns of N and C, the doctor you start seeing needs to be either a sleep specialist or another kind of doc (psychiatrist, pulmonologist, neurologist, general practitioner/family medicine or even endocrinologist WHO TREATS PEOPLE WITH SLEEP DISORDERS.
find out before you start seeing them. someone should be able to tell you over the phone. this could save you YEARS of frustration and misdirected guesses.
