In my supposedly worthless opinion, if almost everything about us is affected by sleep,
I find it impossible to believe that almost everything about us wouldn't also be affected
by a sleep disorder. It's just plain common sense to me. That particular area of the brain
that controls our sleep/wake cycle also controls countless other body functions. When it
malfunctions, it seems highly unlikely to me it would only affect sleep and nothing else.
And every other Narcoleptic I've ever talked to has had other health issues. My 24 year old
son is a Narcoleptic like me. And he suffers from hypothyroidism. That's just one example.
So, Ev, I share your concerns. I just don't know what we can do about it besides maintain as
healthy a lifestyle as we can. And get regular checkups so other problems can be caught early
and treated before they get bad.
