A 48 year old resident of Eugene was returning from a fishing trip to the coast.
He fell asleep and drove his RV into a car parked beside the road. A 24 year old student died at the scene, 3 weeks short of graduation.
The accident happened in August. He appeared in court yesterday and pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide.
The girls relatives agreed with sentence, 4 years probation,Therapy, 8 years loss of drivers license.
Prosecutor emphasized accident was caused by fatigue. After accident, driver was diagnosed with Narcolepsy.
