Thanks Kim for your opinion and response. I am new to message boards and appreciate that you would take the time to answer. I totally agree and would never drive without being on medication and even then I can often be seen being chauffered by MY kids so to avoid any chance of harming anyone. My children are 18, 20 and 21. I dont drive if I even think I can't anymore. I also regularly pullover. Getting somewhere on time is NEVER worth risking my life or the life of others. In fact this has been one of my concerns that I have expressed to my doctor a number of times. For a while I could not make the 15 minute drive home without stopping twice for a nap. He just increased my Vyvanse(ADHD meds)to give me a bigger boost and gave me short-acting amphetamine for the afternoon. This REALLY helped. So, I assumed it was my ADHD being helped and thus causing the problem. I never considered narcolepsy until last Saturday and apparently neither did he!
The purpose of my post, however, was to have all of the real information I can get from people who have been living with this as a officially diagnosed illness for a while. I want to be prepared and informed. I can find a wealth of good information about the treatment options and testing to expect but I can't find any information on the consequences of trying to live within our healthcare system and regulations. I don't know if no news is good news but I want to be prepared and be able to make proactive choices rather than reactive choices because my symptoms affect others enough. I am a planner as a result of my symptoms and trying to manage them effectively and safely for everyone. I AM NOT A RISK TAKER.
So anyone who has information or anecdotes regarding their issues or LACK thereof would be so sincerely appreciated to help me plan or alleviate my anxiety regarding how this illness will effect my family and self further within laws and systems and employment, etc.

Thank you very much. happy.gif
