I think you will go through a normal adjusting period of frustration and anger, saddness(etc)in trying to deal with your diagnosis. There is probably no more denial to protect you. I would not do what I did so much of which was to let people walk on you or ridicule you at work or anywhere. I knew I was wounded and I took the easy non-confrontational way. I needed to be loved and accepted(not to mention employed), so I let this happen. The great comic Charlie Chaplin said that humans ridicule tragedy. Narcolepsy is tragic. I would suggest you develop strategies to brace yourself and quickly put those people in there place that are planning to put you down. I know it sounds tough and I know these are just my experiences--perhaps not everyones. It's not the end of the world though. I think I would be happier today had I taken the advice I just gave you, early on in my life.
