A common policy in aerospace is to attenuate vibration levels for "heavy" equipment items. Although the rationale is a bit fuzzy, it is an accepted practice. Does it make sense to apply attenuation from shock for the same reasons (whatever, precisely, they are)? Does the manner in which the shock is specified matter (e.g. SRS, impulse)?
