While we were trying to establish a soft spring support to simulate a free free condition of an aerospace structure. We used the following methodology. The purpose is to
(i) Avoid improper end conditions by use of fixtures.
(ii) Get the benefit of better force available by avoiding fixture.
Vibration of a full scale system so that proper interaction of all passengers can be ascertained during test simultaneously.
We request your opinion on the following :
Whether a single point excitation at the CG Point would represent correct input to the system.
Whether the suspension methodology indeed simulates a correct free free condition.
Can we expect the responses during test to match the flight responses.
The cylindrical aerospace structure was suspended with 2 bungee cords holding the structure at the two nodal points ( 1st mode ). A stiff stinger was attached to the shaker at one end and the structure ( DUT ) at the other end at the CG Point. Two accelerometers were used as control accelerometers and were mounted very close to the stinger attachment point on the structure near C.G. A random excitation was given to the structure.
We request critical Comments & Suggestions.
