Response to Vibe Test Problem

Normally a Random Test is well defined :

PSD1 at f1, PSD2 at f2, PSD3 at f3 and a downward slope can define a simple profile. The controller ( e.g. Spectral Dynamics,Inc. - USA PUMA. I have used this one very recently at Delphi - Technical Center) gives the grms automatically after a couple of mouse clicks.

In your case , it says 5.58 g*g which means grms is square root of 5.58 = 2.36

Now, grms = Sqrt( PSD * Frequency Range )

Your Frequency Range = 6 minus 4 = 2 KHz and if we consider a flat spectra, your PSD comes out as 0.00279 g*g/Hz

But it says 0.04 g*g/ Hz at 6KHz, so to have the same area (2.36) it seems the PSD at 4 KHz will be quite less.

Can their controller give just 4 to 6 KHz range. Do they know how to attenuate frequencies from 0 to 4 KHz for your test ? Ask your test house : Sir/ Madam, just tell me if you can do a test : 0.00279 g*g/ Hz in the range 4KHz to 6 KHz. This test will give your DUT 5.58 g*g in the range 4Khz to 6 Khz.

Please comment.
