I need to isolate a Lister type 12 hp. engine/gen set. The engine weighs 800#, 1000 rpms. + the gen head is another 200#. A total isolated load of 1200#. The Listeriod is a "modern balanced 1 cyl. engine. The barge is wood ribbed, plywood hulled, 14' X 45'. The genset will set in the center, rear on a pipe frame that extends down and bolts to the 2 X 6 ribs of the barge. A 2" spray foam envelope will surround the frame up to the deck and a 1/4" steel plate will form that section of the deck as is needed as a base to bolt the frame of the genset to.
Do I isolate rge frame from the plate, or bolt it solid and isolate the engine frpm the frame? Do I need to isolate the gen head also? What type of isolators are best to prevent whole boat vibration and shock to the hundreds of wood to wood joints throughout the barge?
Any advice is badly needed. Thank you.
