Response to how to calculate total acceleration for random profile?

The Grms calculations define a numerical property of the random vibration profile. There can be an infinite number of profiles with an identical Grms.

It is important to understand that the Grms for a random profile cannot be used for a numerical definition of failure (if it occurs during excitation under this profile). Ruggedness of electronics assemblies in the field, for example, cannot be defined by the Grms of the random profile that causes failure under test.
