I also think the writers have done this to give and "edge" to the relationship. Nena was probably just disillusioned because Fabian scared her with his "hornier than a teenage boy who's just come across his first playboy magazine" attitude. She's probably cast him off as a jerk who tried to take advantage of her and that's why she "wants to die". She is upset because she can't believe she was so wrong about Fabian. I'm curious to see how Fabian ends up redeeming himself. It'll take more than a ride on his shiny new bike, that's for sure.

By the way, did anyone else wonder if Fabian slipped something into her drink? She did say something along the lines of..."I don't know what you put in my drink that has me acting all dizzy."
