She had made a promise to her mother that she would not sleep with any man til she was married...and she was both afraid of the unknown and was not happy to be doing something against her principles, but she did it anyway...I felt like you...if you are not sure of something why do it? Mauricio would not had died, if he had to wait.....he did not seemed very happy either...the face he made when he saw she was not happy of what she had done.
