QBasic in Vista or 64 bit CPU environment

FAQ033 = How can I make QBasic work? Won't run on VISTA or 64 bit.

ISSUE:

QBasic does not run in Windows Vista on a 64 bit computer. If yoU try to run QBasic on a 64 bit machine with Windows Vista, you won't be able to execute it.

SOLUTION:

The best way to get QBasic to run on those machine setups is to use a program called DOSBox which is an MS-DOS emulator for Windows. Within the DOSBox environment 16 bit applications like QBasic (and other 16 bit programming languages) are able to run without a problem.

You can get DOSBox from http://www.dosbox.com/

One you set it up it is pretty straightforward to get QBasic to run in the DOSBox environment.
