Response to Equal Opportunity
The top two arguments against national travel for youth tennis are money and time. The time argument relates to the time constraint placed on education due to excessive travel. Education should be the top priority for these young athletes. If the league doesn't limit travel, the parents are not going make the decision to limit it. No different than the crazy soccer parents will not opt out of opportunities even when the ocnflict with school. The second arguement relates to the cost. If the cost of travel is too expensive, it limits the pool of players thus lowering the overall level of play.
Interesting that soccer is moving towards more travel while tennis is looking to limit travel.
