What's up with this NO. 1 team? They lost to GSA Valencia 2-1, after losing by the same margin to Stars the previous week. Maybe time for them to start recruiting the best players from GSA and Stars

Please tell the whole story

I doubt this was posted by a GSA parent. To tell the whole story Concorde were missing players. They played the game with field players in goal. They had no subs and outplayed GSA in the second half. It was an Academy game and had no bearing. It is just not that important.

I will say this though, it sure was early when we kicked off in the pit at Ridgeview. Get some more fields already. It was barely light during warmups. Refs were a little biased as well.

Format? 11 v 11 or 8 v 8

Not from Concorde but I know that Concorde NB has been playing a lot of 11 v 11 soccer. Speaking with experience this Spring in same age group, we have had trouble going back to 8 v 8 after some 11 v 11 games at Cobb and at Vulcan. Don't have the same cohesiveness/teamwork that we had before. GSA entered in AFC challenge as 11 v 11 (Real Madrid) and 8 v 8 (Zaragoza). What is their top team?

GSA Valencia is top team, not entered in AFC. The game was 11v11.

Valencia were in Concorde Cup Right?

They got beat by Smyrna in championship. Do they typically play 11 v 11 or 8 v 8?

Very little 11v11. They play mostly 8v8 during season.

GSA U12 players are all over the place. Play on many different teams for some reason. I am not sure why kids would play up on a second U13 team. No one will know how good they are until next year. They are not bad with what play for Valencia week in week out but the best players play up at U13 Red, White.

When and if they all come back to age group they will challenge most teams.

Look at the Academy scores for "Classic II" U-12 boys. You can see that there is a lot of inconsistency in these boys.

CF North by no means has a monopoly on CF's best U-12 players, nor do all of the best CF U-12 players even play U-12 (several are on U-13 Classic Team rosters). I'm not as familar with GSA, but have seen both the U-12 Valencia and Real Madrid teams play, and both of these teams have some execllent players. Moreover, I would not be surprised if there are GSA U-12s who also "play up".

A U-12 soccer "friendly", which by its very nature is meaningless, becomes even more so when larger clubs like CF and GSA are involved.

No doubt the original post was an exercise in ax grinding, rather than gloating by GSA....

A win is a win, friendly or unfriendly. You pompous CFN apologists just can't take your beatings gracefully and must bring up all kinds of conjectures - who is playing up from who isn't and blah, blah, blah. If you all can't field a proper team then don't play; but, if you do, then don't complain when you lose - it smacks of sour grapes, possibly of the Concorde variety!!

Would agree with this post. CFN was nothing but big talk last year with their hand-picked team and the wonder boy coach JR.
Would laugh on the sideline when the would beat team really bad(which was most of the time) NO Respect at all! Guess what? Boys want to have fun and not be yelled at all the time. You have burnt them out and they are only 11/12.. too bad. Life is not a sprint but a marathon.

A different perspective

I am a parent of an out of state player whose team has played CFN U-12 boys 5 times. We have lost 3 and won 2. Each game was competitive and well played. The parents were pretty well behaved and respectfull towards our players. Their coach seemed a little full of himself, but was complimenatary whether they won or lost. They may be a hand-picked team, I am not familar with the Atlanta politics, but in the end they are just kids. Take it easy on the kids and don't take too much pleasure when some U-12 boys lose. This message board is full of venom, and I think the parents need to check their motives before they post. Stop living through your kids.

More perspective

I have respect for the Concorde team. The boys love the game. Some of the best U-12 boys from around the state I have seen with them. They have done a good job of bringing together good players. The last time we played them was about 2 years ago and I know a lot has changed since then. But we watched them play at Vulcan and I thought they played well. The parents were respectful and seemed knowledgeable. Some of them even spoke to us before our next game.

I agree with the comments about U-12 boys. You just don't know what will happen. Some days they are just off. Over the course of time, consistent results speak a lot. Concorde certainly has had success over time. Stars on the other hand still has to prove it.

It is true that you learn more from losing that winning. Our boys and CFN boys and parents have shown class whether they win or lose. I would rather lose a competetive game then winning a game 5-0 and having to play keep away for a half of football (coach will not allow running up the score). The folks in the ATL need to gain a little perspective. These kids you are pushing and moving from club to club will burn out well before they are eligible for scholarship. Let the kids play with their friends and have fun. Stop trying to live your live through your kids. They may decide that girls are more important than being on a R3PL champion. Enjoy the time because it won't come back. Sit down, shut up, and enjoy your kids!

Oh my. Me thinks the previous post went WAY over your head. Or worse yet, you might actually care who wins a U-12 soccer match....
