Is the WGFC site for real?

I recently moved here from Texas and live in Lithia Springs. I was told to check out WGFC. In looking at their website, there are no highly licensed coaches there. NOT ONE! Is that a full listing of their coahces?

I can't travel a long way to practice but I'm not paying money for that type of training.

Depends on how you look at it and whether or not you are a supporter or a competitor. Either 'you get what you pay for' or 'best value for money'. Take your pick.

WGFC Coaches

What age and gender player do you have? WGFC has some good coaches. Good coaches do not have to have the highest licenses. They are building. And they have some very good coaches-coaches that get results.

I have been playing with the Athena stats and think maybe other people should as well. There are about 27 clubs with 5 or more Athena teams. If you look at winning % the top 5 clubs are:

-HCSA Thunder Soccer Club
-Kennesaw FC Academy/Select
-WGFC Select
-A F C
-Norcross Soccer Academy

If you look at points (using the 5/2 pts for win/ties)and factor in number of games played and number of teams (basically the average number of points the club produces per game):

-HCSA Thunder Soccer Club
-Kennesaw FC Academy/Select
-WGFC Select
-A F C
-Alpharetta Ambush Soccer-Select

Or the average number of points gained per team at a given club:

-A F C
-Alpharetta Ambush Soccer-Select
-Kennesaw FC Academy/Select
-HCSA Thunder Soccer Club
-Bluesprings Youth Soccer Ass.

This is across all divisions and I know people will scream that it doesn't matter about anything less than B...but winning means you will climb divisions. Losing a lot (like ASA ranked 24 out of the 27 or say NASA ranked 17) means you will drop. Perhaps all the attention is really fear of what things will look like over the next 2 - 3 years.

Give them their "props". They have taken 2 smaller clubs(Carrollton Crew/DCSA) on west side of ATL and added 3-4 surrounding rec programs to create a solid club. From their website, they already have 34 select teams and over 700 rec players. Several young coaches that seem to be doing a great job with their classic 1 teams.

Its seems to be a "theme" that all smaller clubs in GA would benefit from following.

700 rec players and 34 select teams thats about 115-1250 players. About the same place DCSA was 6-8 years ago. Does this mean that WGFC will bankrupt it's self in 6-8 years?

And it's gonna hurt when you realize that your kid can't come back across the bridge that you burned. If you say you're going, then we wish you well. But don't slink away without a word and think we'll be waiting with the fatted calf for your return.

me, level of coach doesn't tell the whole story. Look at the GSSA AGD system. WGFC has some good 2nd tier teams. Very few Athena A/B teams or Classic I/II. Really only one top team. So, it really depends on what you are looking for. Actually WGFC is s solid program just really no top level teams at this time.

...that there ain't nothing from Texas but steers and, well, you know.
And I don't see no horns.
Perhaps you would be best served taking little Tex to a more expensive club so that you can boast about what a high level certification their coach holds. Giddy up partner and happy trails. YEEEHAWW!

All the money is in north Atlanta so all the top licences coaches go north

Wgfc does a good job for what they have but it's just not enough money out their for top level coaches to get paid. Look at what has happened to afc they 10 to 20 years ago the area had money now it's all moved north the club is in a downward spiral wgfc is a nice rec program but cannot compete with the big boys

In all fairness to them, they do provide multiple select teams per age group with several cl 1/2 teams at half the cost of other clubs. The best option on west side of atlanta....unless you consider expensive, smaller Cobb a viable option.
