The "addition" of 6 players means 6 current AFC players getting set aside. Oh, and why do you think it would be just 6?

This team has 17 players. A change up needs to happen anyway. Assuming CFS and CC dont combine their teams and fix their problems, there will be some new players at AFC next year. If AFC can pick up the ODP players from CFS to boost the offense and the speed from Coweta to improve the mid and D, there will be a team with rpl implications at AFC again next year.

Three observations for ya...

1. CFS crippled Coweta with recruiting, but didn't get what it needed. So both teams are "half" teams very much so with weaknesses in one covered in the other. These two teams need to merge at one club or the other.

2. AFC is playing above it's capability, unless something has happened since we played them. I would have said CFS was far stronger of the two, except now CFS is hanging on for dear life and AFC is near the top.

3. Now the "bad" news.. there is a mid-to-high level A team, and a high B or possible low A team down to be found there, but not an R3PL team.. its not like the 96 and 95 age groups, 95 had true standouts that could carry any team, 96 had a lot of "good" players, the 97s dont have the goods to make R3PL, what their missing should have been learned 3-4 years ago.

Both CFS and AFC are newer teams, with many new players and both with new coaches, they just need time to learn to play better together. CC have been together for awhile, and should be doing better. It appears that it will come down to their head to head match up to see who regulates, if CFS can will again Tophat and Cobby Y, otherwise they both will go down.

AFC is only going to get better through the spring. They have the best coach of the three and at the end of the year will have 17 + recruiting to choose from.

CFS collected from everyone around them and still has a depth problem. Great striker up top. Two others that are pretty good and a few decent support players. Beyond that they struggle to field quality players.

Same problem at CC. Good core, but a terrible bench. For the most part they seem to be a small team and other than a few fast players they struggle for speed. I knew they struggled for consistency last year, but Im suprised that they are in the relegation picture. If they cant produce a stand out up top they will struggle in B as well. When we played them it was kick ball in its ugliest form.

From what we hear neither AFC nor CFS have a coach on a regular basis, just different coaches coaching on any given day. The WS of CFS story remains a mystery, and DD of AFC is not really coaching. With all their internal issues at CFS and AFC, it makes you wonder why the attacks towards CC.

What makes you think CFS /CC players will not go some where else?

Rumor has it some of these special players you are looking at have been looking also. Only they are not looking at AFC. Parents are willing to commute and carpool a little in order to avoid AFC and all the drama. I can't say I blame them. Why make the leap to another unstable situation?

Sorry AFC, better hold on to the 17 players you already have, the North Side will be picking up the majority of the ones you are hoping for. Don't leave the light on at tryouts and don't be surprised to see some changes in the Spring from some frustrated players who want to strengthen mid level teams sooner rather than later.

watch the bubble players

This is a critical age, it's less important who are the great players now but who are improving and who are not..There are not but 2 or 3 players in this age group right now who are truly strong players who are also improving, mostly it's a case of some interesting bubble players catching up.

All three coaches are very aware what is going on in their own team and to some limited extent on the other teams, but as always year after year many parents will be caught off gaurd in the spring.

What make the southside different now is some of these players would quit before playing at one of the other clubs, that's an interesting variable. Not sure what it means for this age group down here but it's probly not good.

Which Midlevel Northside team?

That is the question. The standings are not completely set yet, but if we are looking at the current mid-level teams it would have to be:

NASA
TOPHAT
ASA
AMBUSH
CFC

I would almost want to eliminate ASA since I can't see them willing to drive past the Atlanta and Marietta clubs to drive to Cumming and the Polo fields. Could say the same about Ambush and Alpharetta. No doubt though any of the midlevel teams would be R3PL level with the additions. Possibly even state cup contenders.

but you did list the team in consideration. Only, most if not all of the moves will come after the spring season not before. The teams going down will finish out commitment to their teams and try to help them win Athena B in the spring. Regardless of the results, you can expect to see a minimum of 3 (possible 4 or more) make the move. No one is interested in moving to AFC. Nothing personal, just to much history.
